- - - Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme, hosted by The Broke and The Bookish, where a new topic is given for a top ten list - - -
1. Matching series cover makes me happy
It's not unusual to see multiple editions of a book/series, but having matching covers is A MUST in my book.
That includes having an entire series as only hardcover or paperback. I can't handle it not being as such.
2. I go heart-eyes when books on a shelf are the same height
Doesn't it make you glow when you see that your books align in height? No? Well, I do haha.
If I can fit another book perfectly on top of said books, I cheer.
It's one of the things I love about reorganizing my bookshelf, it's like completing a difficult puzzle.
3. My heart breaks when I see a scratch or bent page
I'm not one to avoid buying used books, mind you. But if I ordered a new book,
and the cover gets bent, I just feel sad that I couldn't stop such an event from happening.
This happened to my signed paperback of Hothouse Flower by Krista and Becca Ritchie. I died a little inside.
4. I want a new bookshelf, but I also want new books
I've never purchased so many physical copies as I did last year. I filled up my small bookshelf so quickly.
Now, I'm looking to purchase a larger one (mine is pretty much 4 storage cubes) but the problem is:
1. I don't really have room for a new shelf
2. I have a list of tbr books I'd rather buy
3. I'm a student and tuition is darn expensive (not to mention all the textbooks *cries*)
5. I can waste hours staring or running my hand along books
6. "Shipping Confirmation" emails are the best thing to pop up in my inbox
Please tell me I am not the only one to get excited from these emails.
Once I get these babies, I begin my daily trip to the community mailbox after lectures.
80% of the time it's bills BUT when I see that package with my name on it...*fires confetti*
7. I have many bookmarks but only read one book at a time
I've kind of started reading multiple books (2), I'm not sure how other readers manage to read like 4 at a time,
I applaud you because I can only imagine all the epicness. As of right now, I am rotating my bookmarks.
8. My hardest decisions in life tend to start with "hardcover or paperback?"
Ugh, this is the worst. I've mainly purchased pb because it's often half the price of a hc.
But now I'm facing the dilemma of having to wait for a sequel to release in pb. It's torturous.
I love that hc come with a dust jacket but they're so large in comparison. Sigh.
9. Made a TBR jar but haven't actually used it
It's really just for decoration right now. Plus the fact that I can't fit all my book slips in haha.
I'm thinking I may put the books that were amazon freebies/giveaways in it
since I've accumulated quite a number and I'm starting to feel bad that I keep pushing them to the side.
10. Having the urge to reorganize books at the bookstore
You know when you see books you know are a part of a series, but are separated by a number of books by different authors?
THAT. Or when books of the series are not organized in order of book one to book three.

But books are so pretty to look at, I can't help it!!!
Bookstores and libraries are where I go to get energized, the environment makes life brighter. ;)

After working many years in retail, organizing store shelves is a habit I still need to break. I like to arrange books by height, too.
ReplyDeleteHope you will check out my list at http://thebookconnectionccm.blogspot.com/2015/02/top-ten-tuesday-ten-book-related.html
i also like when books on a shelf are about the same height. I also like to organize books by length.
ReplyDeleteI love your list, I do all of these, too bad I can't steal your list and put it as mine. lol, I didn't even realize I do all this till I read it here.
ReplyDeleteI totally made a TBR jar, but never used it. It kind of terrified me as well when I saw how many books I had on my Kindle. My TTT
ReplyDeleteOmg YES to reorganising books! I really want to work in a bookstore/library where I can just stack and order books so neatly and beautifully. ^_^ #ultimategoal, hehe. Whyyyy are books so expensive?! IT IS CRUEL AND UNFAIR ON US POOR BOOKWORMS. And I hate it when books get ruined. I literally feel sick. I try not to crack spines, although it does happen...that's one reason I like hardcovers better: nicer spines at the end! XD Here's my TTT!
ReplyDeleteI read many, many books at the same time (right now, four) and that can be a problem, too.
ReplyDeleteHere's my Top Ten!
I read so many books at the same time. My husband often asks me how I do it! I am so glad I ran across your blog.
ReplyDeleteNew follower :)
If you get the chance, stop by my blog and say hi!

I'm so happy to know that I'm not the only one rearranging the shelves wherever I go. LOL
ReplyDeleteGreat list! I have to agree-I love it when series covers match. I hate it when they don't-it gets to me and bothers me a lot. I've not made a TBR jar but I've heard that people tend to not use them. I love your blog! Thanks for sharing. :)

Nice list of book related problems!! Here's a link to my TTT for the week: http://captivatedreader.blogspot.com/2015/02/top-ten-tuesday-ten-book-related.html
ReplyDeleteI have the same TBR jar in #9. And no, I don't ever use it either, but I like to pick out a few books, just to see which come out.
ReplyDeleteI like organizing my books by height as well, I agree with number 5! Sometimes I sit on the floor deciding which book to read, most of the time I'm just running my hands over the covers Lol cute answers <3 Benish | Feminist Reflections
