In the realm of Awara, where gods, monsters, and humans exist side by side, Miuko is an ordinary girl resigned to a safe, if uneventful, existence as an innkeeper's daughter. But when Miuko is cursed and begins to transform into a demon with a deadly touch, she embarks on a quest to reverse the curse and return to her normal life. Aided by a thieving magpie spirit and continuously thwarted by a demon prince, Miuko must outfox tricksters, escape demon hunters, and negotiate with feral gods if she wants to make it home again. But with her transformation comes power and freedom she never even dreamed of, and she'll have to decide if saving her soul is worth trying to cram herself back into an ordinary life that no longer fits her... and perhaps never did.

Why? So this book came across my twitter timeline thanks to CW at The Quiet Pond, and it caught my eye immediately. I mean, LOOK AT THAT COVER *heart eyes*. The colour palette, the title typography, the artwork... G-O-R-Geous! I've seen CW rave about this book often and how it gave off Studio Ghibli's Princess Mononoke vibes—a movie I absolutely love. YES. Sign me the fudge up!

Savvy Sheldon Feels Good as Hell
by Taj McCoy
Release Date: March 22, 2022
| +Goodreads |
Standalone
Genre: Adult, Contemporary, Romance
- - -
Savvy Sheldon spends a lot of time tiptoeing around the cracks in her life: her high-stress and low-thanks job, her clueless boyfriend and the falling-apart kitchen she inherited from her beloved grandma—who taught her how to cook and how to love people by feeding them. But when Savvy's world starts to crash down around her, she knows it's time for some renovations.

Starting from the outside in, Savvy tackles her crumbling kitchen, her relationship with her body, her work-life balance (or lack thereof) and, last but not least, her love life. The only thing that doesn't seem to require effort is her ride-or-die squad of friends. But as any home-reno-show junkie can tell you, something always falls apart during renovations. First, Savvy passes out during hot yoga. Then it turns out that the contractor she hires is the same sexy stranger she unintentionally offended by judging based on appearances. Worst of all, Savvy can't seem to go anywhere without tripping over her ex and his latest "upgrade". Savvy begins to realize that maybe she should've started renovations the other way around: beginning with how she sees herself before building a love that lasts.

Why? Okay, we've established I am quick to fall in coverlust. Can you blame me? Also, I can't be the only one that had Lizzo's Good As Hell song blaring in my mind after reading the title. Elements of the story that popped out at me in the best way: home renovations (I too, eat these shows up) and self-love. I love coming across romance books with plus-size heroines and body positivity. This one sounds like a winner!

What are you waiting on?
I'd love to stop by and see your pick(s), just leave a link in the comments :)

  3. I love that more authors/publishers are starting to put curvy women on the cover! I read a series called Shaped by Love by Michelle Pennington and it featured women with different body types, it was great. Thanks for stopping by my blog :)
