Waiting on Wednesday (20)

Waiting on Wednesday was a weekly meme created by Jill at Breaking The Spine
for sharing upcoming releases we're highly anticipating.
Now, Tressa at Wishful Endings hosts Can't Wait Wednesday that is based off of WoW to continue the fun!

A Phở Love Story
by Loan Le
Release Date: February 9, 2021
Standalone
Genre: Young Adult, Contemporary, Romance, Foodie

If Bao Nguyen had to describe himself, he'd say he was a rock. Steady and strong, but not particularly interesting. His grades are average, his social status unremarkable. He works at his parents' pho restaurant, and even there, he is his parents' fifth favorite employee. Not ideal.

If Linh Mai had to describe herself, she'd say she was a firecracker. Stable when unlit, but full of potential for joy and spark and fire. She loves art and dreams pursuing a career in it. The only problem? Her parents rely on her in ways they're not willing to admit, including working practically full-time at her family's pho restaurant.

For years, the Mais and the Nguyens have been at odds, having owned competing, neighboring pho restaurants. Bao and Linh, who've avoided each other for most of their lives, both suspect that the feud stems from feelings much deeper than friendly competition.

But then a chance encounter brings Linh and Bao together despite their best efforts and sparks fly, leading them both to wonder what took so long for them to connect But then, of course, they immediately remember.

Can Linh and Bao find love in the midst of feuding families and complicated histories/

Why? It's 2021 and I feel terrible that I have barely read any books by Vietnamese authors or books featuring a Vietnamese lead. This must be corrected! Nothing makes me smile more than being able to see myself or my family in a book and sharing it with my mom. A Phở Love Story sounds like a sweet and fun book! I love the cover. I'm loving the synopsis. The foodie in me is very excited to dive into this one next month~

Her mother vanished ten years ago.
So did a quarter of a million dollars in cash.
Thief. Bitch. Criminal.
Now, she's back.
Her bones clothed in scarlet silk.

When socialite Nina Rai disappeared without a trace, everyone wrote it off as another trophy wife tired of her wealthy husband.

But now her bones have turned up in the shadowed green of the forest that surrounds her elite neighborhood, a haven of privilege and secrets that's housed the same influential families for decades.

The rich live here, along with those whose job it is to make their lives easier. And somebody knows what happened to Nina one rainy night ten years ago.

Her son Aarav heard a chilling scream that night, and he's determined to uncover the ugly truth that lives beneath the moneyed elegance... but no one is ready for the murderous secrets about to crawl out of the dark.

Even the dead aren't allowed to break the rules in this cul-de-sac.

Why? I love Nalini Singh's writing style. I greatly enjoyed her contemporary romances. I have friends who have been pushing her paranormal/urban fantasy series on me which I plan to start this year. And now she's dipping her toes in the mystery/thriller genre?! Helloooo. It's my favourite genre following romance. You bet your bottom dollar I will be checking this book out!

What are you waiting on?
I'd love to stop by and see your pick(s), just leave a link in the comments :)
