Top Ten Book To Movie Adaptations I'm Looking Forward To

- - - Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme, hosted by The Broke and The Bookish, where a new topic is given for a top ten list - - -

About half of this list have only been optioned for film that I really really hope go into production. *fingers crossed 24/7*
These are in a specific order from 'I NEED THIS TODAY' to 'Ooh sounds good, give it to me'.
[* = optioned]

1. Under the Never Sky*
With how popular CGI has gotten in films, I can imagine how amazing the Aether storms and virtual worlds would look like. And [more importantly,] I can imagine my drooling over the two actors that get cast as Perry and Roar ;)

2. Daughter of Smoke and Bone*
So I finished reading this book a few months back and loved it!
I feel like DoS&B could have LotR-potential cinematography (aka epicness).

3. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
J.K. Rowling, magical monsters and Eddie Redmayne.
Needless to say I'm really looking forward to being back in the wizarding world!

4. The Raven Boys*
Confession: I've only read the first book.
But I found that every character left a strong impression and I just love
the dynamic/friendship between the guys. AND there's forbidden love (+100 points).

5. An Ember in the Ashes*
Roman-like setting and one slave girl willing to risk her life to save her brother?
This book has all the elements for an EPIC dystopian movie.

6. Red Queen*
I'm a tad nervous about Elizabeth Banks directing this movie tbh.
I loved Pitch Perfect. The sequel? Not so much.
But the premise of RQ is sure to make a great movie!

7. The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight
This book sounds so adorable. I'm all for romance movies!

8. A Monster Calls
Liam Neeson!!!!! He's darling and I love his thriller movies.
I just hope this one is not too scary.

9. The 5th Wave
When I watched the trailer it made me think of the plagues of Egypt.
And then The Host feels with aliens and what seems like a possible love triangle?
Either way, I am intrigued.

10. Allegiant (Pt. 1)
Many of my blogger pals didn't enjoy Insurgent. CGI is kind of over the top for me but still.
As someone who never read the books, I've enjoyed watching Four take off his shirt the movies.

What book to movie adaptations are you looking forward to?
I'm still impatiently waiting for the day The Lunar Chronicles gets optioned.

  4. Is Daughter of Smoke and Bone really being made into a movie? Gotta be honest, that is my favorite series and the prospect of it being adapted scares me. Part of me really doesn't want that to happen. I guess it would depends on what studio, which Director, producer, and who they choose to portray the characters. Also, this wasn't something I noticed right away about the series until after I finished the second book, but nobody is speaking English in those books. Keep that in mind when you think about it being adapted. The Chimera and "Angel" languages weren't really described. Not from what I remember anyways. :/

I would be looking forward to Allegiant if that book hadn't pissed me off the way it did.

    1. Omg I completely forgot about the whole languages thing! I imagine they'd possibly do english dialogue but some language for when Karou doesn't understand or when certain people are in the scene? I certainly hope if the book does go through that Laini Taylor would be a part of the process :)

  6. I kind of hate this week, because so many of these lists feature books I didn't even know we're optioned. And then I get so excited about the prospect and now I have to wait forever to see if a movie comes out :( but oh my god, Under the Never Sky as a movie would be brilliant!

  7. Allegiant was my LEAST favorite book in the series so I am not even sure I want to watch the movie! I have been dying to read The Raven Boys (or any Maggie Steifvater book) so maybe making it a movie will force me to move it up on my TBR!

    1. Tbh I'm very curious to see how the movie will end. Will it follow the book? Will it not? But I hope you pick up TRC series soon because I keep hearing good things about the rest of the books! We've gotta catch up ;)
